Can you sing along and do the action? Can you think of any words with the sound ‘oo’ in?

2. New Sound: 'oo' as in 'moon' (long vowel sound)

Our Reception Letters and Sounds Phonics lessons teach children to read letters and begin to blend to read words.

Optional Follow Up Activities

If you enjoyed learning about the long vowel sound 'oo', you can have a go at these activities:

How to play 'ee' Roll and Read:

  • Print out the game (if you don't have a printer you could draw the grid and write the words).
  • Roll a dice (if you don't have a dice you can get electronic dice online).
  • Read the first word next to the number you rolled. If you read the word correctly, colour it in.
  • Roll the dice again. Read the first word next to the number you rolled. If you rolled the same number, read the second word and so on.

You could make this a 2 player game by having two different colours. Who can read the most words correctly?
