Chinese New Year Preparations

On Friday, some people will be celebrating a special festival called Chinese New Year.

Discuss these questions with your grown up:

  • Can you remember when we learned about the festival of Diwali that is celebrated by people who are part of the Hindu faith? What can you remember about this festival?
  • Can you remember when we learnt about the celebration of Christmas that is celebrated by some people who are part of the Christian faith? What can you remember about this celebration?

Today and tomorrow (Thursday), you are going to learn about how people all over the world are preparing for Chinese New Year. Watch the video below to find out about a little girl called Abbie and how her family are busy preparing.

During/after the video try and talk about anything you think is similar/different to a festival or celebration that you celebrate with your family. This could be Christmas, Easter, birthdays, or anything else.

There are then some activities for you join in with.
