Transition into Year 1
Our aim is to ensure a smooth and successful transition from EYFS into Year 1. This is supported through a range of carefully planned transition activities, including:
• Transition afternoon during the summer term, where children spend time with their new teacher and classmates in their new classroom.
• A visit and tour of the Year 1 classroom and learning space.
• Transition and handover meetings between EYFS and Year 1 staff in the summer term.
• Year 1 teacher visiting Reception to read stories and spend time getting to know the children.
• Ongoing conversations with the SENDCo and relevant staff to ensure appropriate support and provision are in place for children moving into the Key Stage One curriculum.
