Computing

Computing Curriculum Statement of Intent

At Worth Primary School, we recognise that Computing is an essential part of everyday life and a vital component in preparing our pupils for the modern world. Through our Computing curriculum, we aim to inspire curiosity, creativity and resilience in all pupils, regardless of background, gender or specific needs, empowering them to thrive in an ever-evolving digital society.

Our intent is to ensure that every child becomes a confident, responsible and safe user of technology. We deliver a curriculum that builds progressively across four key areas: Digital Literacy, Computer Science, Information Technology and Online Safety. These strands equip our learners with the skills to not only use technology effectively, but to understand and shape it.

Technology is woven into every aspect of our lives, and as such, Computing at Worth Primary is designed to enrich children’s wider learning. Through engaging, hands-on experiences and cross-curricular links, we nurture computational thinking, problem-solving and creativity. Skills and knowledge are revisited and embedded throughout the key stages to ensure depth of understanding and lasting impact.

We are committed to developing digitally literate learners who leave us with:

  • A secure understanding of how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly
  • The ability to create, debug and evaluate digital content with confidence
  • The capacity to think logically and work collaboratively when solving problems
  • An appreciation of how digital systems work and are applied in real-world contexts
  • A readiness to embrace new technologies and a lifelong enthusiasm for computing
  •

At Worth Primary School, we believe that Computing opens doors to future opportunities. Our intent is to ensure every child leaves us digitally prepared for the next stage of their education – and for life in a connected world.
