Year 3 Trip to Macclesfield Silk Museum

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the venue of our school trip has changed. We will be going to the Silk Museum in Macclesfield on Tuesday 3rd March to do an Ancient Egyptian Workshop.

Here is a link to the website where it gives more detail on the plan for the day.

The trip will be a whole day event, 10am – 2pm at the museum; we will travel to and from by coach. Our goal is to start the visit around 10 with an introduction all together before separating into 3 groups. The groups will rotate to cover each of the 3 sessions during the day.  The first session runs from about 10:15 – 11:15, the second session from 11:15 – 12:15.  We will then all have lunch together for 45 minutes.  The final session of the day runs from 1:00 – 2:00.

Payment will be through parent pay where you will also see an option to choose a packed lunch should your child wish.

As the Silk Museum is an older building, it can be a little on the cold side so please ensure children have a warm coat with them. Hat and gloves can also be taken if you wish.

Our school top and sweatshirt/cardigan must be worn, however, children may decide to wear joggers/leggings and trainers if they wish.

Stone Age Workshop

As part of our topic on The Prehistoric World, Year 3 will be taking part in a whole day workshop on Tuesday 14th October. This will take place at school and will include the following core content;

  • Cave Art

  • Mighty Megafauna

  • The Evolution of Man

  • Megaliths  & Stonehenge

  • Life for Prehistoric Humans

  • Paleolithic, Mesolithic & Neolithic

  • Handling Ancient Fossils & Artefacts

We are very excited about the day; it will really bring our topic to life and enhance the children’s learning as well as being lots of fun. Children should wear their normal uniform on the day.
