  • Cheshire East Fire and Rescue Visit Y5

    Wed 15 Jan 2020

Kerry from Cheshire East Fire and Rescue Service came into school to talk to Y5 about fire safety today. She told the children about the 3 elements a fire needs to burn (oxygen, fuel and heat) and how removing one of these elements will stop fires burning. Y5 thought about all the things that could cause fires at home – there were rather a lot! They found out that there are lots of steps we can take to prevent fires such as not overloading plugs and closing internal doors at night. They learned about the importance of routinely switching off appliances at night, not leaving food cooking in the kitchen unattended and never charging things overnight. They talked about how to safely leave homes in the event of a fire and the information needed if a 999 call is made.
