Gardening Club is back up and running for a while this half term. We are excited to have some new Year 1 gardeners joining us this year too. The children have been busy pulling up carrots and beetroot as well as picking sweetpeas and poppy seed heads. They will be in charge of getting the garden up to standard again after the summer ready for another successful year.
We are very proud to have been recognised as a Partnership School for Initial Teacher Training with Manchester Metropolitan University. Each year we work with students to help to inspire and encourage them on their journey on becoming the next generation of teachers. Thank you for all of the hard work the teachers do especially Mr Smythe as our school Student Mentor.
A huge well done to the Y5 and Y6 children who received a Headteacher's Award this morning. The winners of this award really are shining lights of the school and represent Worth's core values every day. Thank you also to Mr and Mrs Holland who attended the assembly to present the prestigious Jude Holland Award in memory of their son.
Wow - what a day! The children have had such an exciting time. They became "mini marines" and were able to toast marshmallows, complete team building exercises and run through a giant inflatable assault course. They've absolutely loved it with many children conquering fears and showing some brilliant team skills. Many of the staff were even able to show off some of their skills too!
We had a whole school science day this week! The children loved having the opportunity to spend the day problem solving, experimenting and presenting their findings to other classes. An engineer also visited school and spoke about her job and what it means to work within the STEM industry.
The children have had a week off timetable this week to prepare for their mini enterprises. Each class has been busy designing and making products to sell and, this morning, they were able to set up stall. They worked brilliantly in their teams and had a fantastic attitude throughout. Quick mental maths, good customer service and pricing strategies were just some of the skills they had to use to be successful. Well done to all involved!
Reception have had a brilliant time at Poynton Library this morning. They were shown how to use the library and find the books they like. They were even able to bring a book home using their library cards if they wished. All of this was finished off with a group story. Thank you to the library and the Council Community Support Officers for walking them down.
Thank you so much to our amazing PTA for organising such a fantastic evening. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed exploring all of the different stalls...pony rides, a surf simulator, a fire engine, tiki bar and so much more. Also, thank you for the support and help from children, staff and families.
Well done to last night's Y5&6 athletics team who competed against a number of other local schools at Woodbank Park. They worked hard and had a brilliant attitude throughout finishing in 3rd place overall. Thank you to all who helped and supported.
We have received an International School Award from The British Council this term. Thank you to Miss Muncey for leading the project and the children and staff involved.
