We would like to thank Paul for his assembly today. Paul works with Anaphylaxis Campaign (this year's chosen charity) and visited school today to raise awareness and tell the children a little more about what it means to suffer from severe allergies. Paul also thanked the children and their families for raising funds by a sponsored run. There is still sponsorship money coming to school so we will share the total with you when we can!
Congratulations to Mrs Johnson (formerly Miss Wyatt) who got married during the half term holiday. All at Worth wish her and Mr Johnson a long and happy future together. Mrs Johnson would like to thank the staff, children and parents for their well wishes and cards.
Weren't the children fantastic in yesterday's sponsored run? They all ran so well in the warm weather (lucky for us the rain decided to hold off) to raise funds for the school and our chosen charity, Anaphylaxis Campaign. Well done also to those parents who took part in the parents races - thank you! School would also like to thank the PTA for providing water and a chocolate treat for every child in school.
Our Y5 and Y6 tennis teams represented the school brilliantly last week. We had another win - our A Team came back to school with a trophy as the area champions. They will now go on to the next stage of the competition. Good luck!
We are having another successful crop this year in the Worth Garden. The green fingered amongst you may have noticed that we are currently growing leeks, garlic, strawberries, peas, and beans - broccoli and cabbage are coming next. Well done to Gardening Club and all of its volunteers.
Huge well done and congratulations to our Y3/Y4 tennis teams who won the area championship this afternoon. They will now go on to the next stage of the competition. Go Team Worth!
Poynton Town Mayor, Sarah-Jane Gilmore, has been working extremely hard to fundraise money for the local primary schools recently. Thanks to the kind donations from the local community, Worth has been lucky enough to receive a donation towards our outdoor learning space. All at Worth would like to say a huge thank you to the Mayor – her help and hard work is much appreciated and the donation will go a long way.
Y5 went back in time on Wednesday to live a day in the life of a Victorian. They spent the day exploring Quarry Bank Mill, learning in the apprentice house and doing their chores (including making beds and scrubbing down the kitchen!).
It was Worth Primary School's 50th birthday party yesterday and we made sure we celebrated it properly. We had a 1960s themed day as the school was built in 1969. Children and adults came dressed up in some very impressive outfits, there was a lot of birthday cake, a special assembly, a party lunch and a 1960s boogie in the afternoon. The activities the children completed throughout the day were also linked to the 1960s. During the evening, we opened the school and welcomed plenty of past pupils and staff. It was so lovely to hear all of the wonderful memories from everybody.
Well done to our footballers who played against Moorfield Primary School at home on Tuesday. The girls made history by playing in our very first girls football match as well - well done! The boys unfortunately didn't get a win but the girls managed to nail a winning score of 3-2.
